By GlobalDataThe facility is expected to start offering outpatient care in late 2024.
It is part of a $151m investment by BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan in patient care locations announced earlier this year.
Other facilities under the project are being built in Lakeview and Big Rapids.
Through these facilities, BHSH Spectrum Health seeks to make healthcare accessible and convenient for local residents.
The outpatient centre will offer a wide range of services. Apart from primary care, the centre will also include specialty services such as heart and vascular, and neurosciences clinics and residency clinics.
Additionally, the building will house West Michigan’s only heart and lung transplant centre.
The facility will also have a simulation centre to train physicians and other caregivers.
In addition, the centre will include services keeping the wellness of physicians and team members in mind.
BHSH System president and CEO Tina Freese Decker said: “Today we proudly celebrate the next evolution of Peter and Pat Cook’s vision to create a place dedicated to ‘helping healers heal’.
“This new centre paves the way to advancing medicine for the communities we serve and further solidifies the Grand Rapids Medical Mile as a destination for extraordinary care.”
BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan president Darryl Elmouchi said: “With a simulation centre and educational resources for physicians and other caregivers, along with specialty care and an emphasis on physician and team member well-being, this facility will help us care for current patient needs and prepare for the future.”
