Under the initiative, patients will see daily in-home and virtual visits from healthcare providers, along with remote monitoring.

As part of their in-home care, patients will receive a minimum of two in-person visits per day by a TGH at Home clinical team member.

To be eligible for at-home care, patients must have undergone treatment in the Emergency Department or admitted to TGH. Further, they must live within a 30-minute drive from the hospital to ensure timely care.

Tampa General president and CEO John Couris said, “TGH at Home is a true model of innovation – integrating high-tech applications such as remote patient monitoring and telehealth visits with in-person care by trained health care providers.

“In addition to enhancing the patient experience, Hospital at Home care has been shown to improve quality and service.”

Apart from their in-person care, TGH will also use innovative technology to ensure adequate care outside the hospital.

For this purpose, TGH has collaborated with Israeli remote patient monitoring platform Biobeat.

Under this, each patient will be provided with a wireless device that functions as a blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter and also thermometer.

The hospital has also teamed up with US-based telehealth provider TytoCare to offer virtual health kits. These kits include a cellular-enabled tablet that will transfer information on vital signs.

This technology will also help the TGH at Home team to monitor their patients’ condition round the clock.

Initially, the service will be available for patients suffering from Congestive heart failure (CHF), Urinary tract infection (UTI), cellulitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes.

Tampa General Healthcare Design vice president Dr Peter Chang said: “TGH at Home is the future of medicine happening now, thanks to innovations in technology and advancing care models.”
